Request for Volunteers: Cancel Legal Research

The Cancer Legal Resource Center is seeking licensed attorneys in Virginia to join its Professional Panel. CLRC is seeking attorneys with experience in a wide range of legal issue areas, including (but not limited to) employment, insurance, estate planning, government benefits, medical malpractice, consumer rights, or family law to join its Professional Panel and to help people navigate their cancer-related legal concerns. Speaking to an attorney, who is an expert in their legal issue, can make a major difference to a person dealing with cancer. We ask that you consider getting involved .

The Cancer Legal Resource Center (CLRC) is a program of the 501(c) nonprofit, the Disability Rights Legal Center. The CLRC is the only national dedicated center for patients, survivors, caregivers, and health care professionals to access confidential cancer-related legal information and resources at no cost. The CLRC provides information through its National Telephone Assistance Line, online assistance program, outreach programs, and a library of resources including the Patient Legal Handbook.

The CLRC focuses mainly on topics of employment, insurance, estate planning, government benefits, medical malpractice, consumer rights, and family law. Because the CLRC does not provide direct legal representation, callers benefit from legal advice or direct advocacy to resolve their concerns from Professional Panel members who have experience in the legal area in which callers need assistance. Client referrals are based on geography and area of expertise.

Joining the Professional Panel is a minimal commitment. Professional Panel members simply agree to a 30-minute free consultation with potential clients. After the 30-minute free consultation, any further action and fees, if any, are up to the attorney and client. If you are interested in joining the Professional Panel, apply here. It’s free to apply. If you would like to learn more about the CLRC and Professional Panel, you may schedule a call with a co-Director by emailing [email protected] or attend an upcoming free webinar.

Thank you for considering serving individuals with cancer and their loved ones.
